Sensitive Architectures & Organic Space
These works, though distinct in form and era, share a common desire to redefine the relationship between body, space, and air. Whether through the inflatable structures of Haus-Rucker-Co, the breathing environments of Eero Lundén, or the luminous architectures of James Turrell, each seeks to unsettle the boundary between inside and outside, between matter and perception. Breath becomes a material in its own right: it shapes form, animates structure, and gives life to space. In the projects of Victorine Müller and Jesse Seegers, respiration becomes presence, that of the body enclosed within a membrane, at once protected and vulnerable. Air is no longer invisible; it becomes sculpture, tension, and limit.
These immersive experiences also call upon light and transparency as tools for sensory transformation. In Turrell, light gives shape to volume and dissolves matter; in Fischer, it is emptiness itself that takes form, a tangible absence. Similarly, Cyril Lancelin and Quasar Khanh propose flexible, repetitive structures where lightness merges with the temporality of gesture.
Through these propositions emerges an art that breathes, expands, and contracts to the rhythm of the world. Space is no longer a fixed frame but a living organism, traversed by breath, light, and human presence.
