Thinking Through The Interface
In a time when digital technologies are reshaping how we perceive reality, contemporary artworks such as anti-atlantis, desktop dining, feral metaverse, framing electric dreams, subterranea, terrarium, the great adventure of material world, wall flower, and walls question our relationship to the world by foregrounding the interplay between nature, culture, technology, and subjectivity.
These artists investigate how artificial environments (networks, virtual worlds, and metaverses) and material structures (everyday objects, architectures, and natural substrates) reconfigure our identities, memories, and imaginaries, often oscillating between utopian promise and dystopian tension. In works like feral metaverse or framing electric dreams, digital reality becomes a space for speculative critique, where alternative narratives and possible utopias emerge in response to social dystopias, offering a creative resistance to dominant technological narratives.
Pieces such as terrarium and subterranea challenge the boundary between ecology and artifice, placing living systems at the core of constructed environments and reflecting on the consequences of human intervention in ecosystems.
Meanwhile, desktop dining and wall flower reveal the poetry and absurdity of everyday objects and spaces: fragments of ordinary life are transformed into critical lenses on consumerism, technological habits, and shared social environments, suggesting that our routines function as political and cultural interfaces.
At the heart of these practices lies a shared impulse to reassert the value of imagination, through the hybridization of physical and digital worlds, through the ways technology resonates within bodies and narratives, and through the reinvention of relationships between humans, machines, and environments. In this context, art becomes a laboratory for possible futures, staging speculative visions and critical fictions that invite us to rethink the present.
